The Founder and Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, Chief Afe Babalola, has thrown his support behind the current Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB’s) ‘war’ against admission fraudsters, saying that the board should be more pragmatic about its approach so as to comply with the best international practices. Concise News reports that Afe Babalola who made this known in a statement, expresses concern about the country’s public university’s academic calendar, which most times have been affected by strike actions, thus bringing Nigeria’s education to its knees.

UTME 2019: Top Lawyer Makes Appeal To JAMB To Release Results

Respected Nigerian lawyer and educationist, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN), has appealed to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to release the results of its recently conducted Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) 2019. Concise News reports that Chief Babalola made this plea in a statement released not too long ago. While expressing his institution, Afe Babalola University’s concern over the delay in releasing the result of the last JAMB UTME conducted between April 11 and 18, 2019, he sympathised with parents and children whose results are being withheld because of the misdeeds of others. Part of his statement reads: “I will like to appeal to JAMB to do the best it could to fast-track its on-going commendable biometric verification exercise and release the results of its recently conducted examinations so that when we are combating the fraudsters, the innocent parents and children do not suffer.”

2019 UTME: JAMB Releases Shocking Details About Examination

There were more arrests for examination malpractice from Bauchi State in the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), according to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). This online news medium understands that JAMB Special Technical Task Team of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) revealed this in its report. According to the report, 48 out of the 136 suspects were arrested in Bauchi during the examination held in the country from April 11 to 19. It was followed by Sokoto and Lagos states followed, with five persons each. Also, the report obtained by Premium Times further revealed that the arrests were made in 23 out of the 36 states. The task team reported that the legal department of the state police command was vetting the case files of the suspects arrested in Bauchi State to ascertain the appropriate legal steps to toe. Three of the five suspects arrested in Sokoto State have been arraigned in court. The two others were granted bail but their sureties were yet to produce them for trial. In Lagos State, three suspects have been arraigned in court for selling JAMB questions papers. This is as the other two arrested in the state were granted bail but were yet to be produced by sureties too. One suspect was arrested each in Kebbi and Kwara states with arrests also made in Gombe, Ekiti, Abia, Delta, Plateau, Oyo and the Federal Capital Territory. Borno, Enugu, Adamawa, Rivers, Kaduna, Bayelsa, Edo and Ebonyi are some of the other states were people were nabbed for several offences.

JAMB: UTME 2019 Results Release Date Revealed

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) may start releasing results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) 2019 from today Friday, Concise News has reliably gathered. Meanwhile, the board has banned 100 of the 687 Computer Based Test (CBT) centres over allegation of malpractices and violation of extant regulations. The board’s spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who spoke with The Guardian yesterday, says JAMB would start announcing the results before weekend. “In the course of our biometric examination, over 100 centres are discovered to be involved in acts, not in tandem with JAMB rules and have been banned from participating in examinations,” he divulges. Furthermore, Dr Benjamin allays fears and states that only perpetrators of examination malpractices would be punished.
